My Box is My Castle

2 monitors, 2 VHS players, 7 loudspeaker boxes, audio amplifier, CD player //Voice: Susanne Abbuehl

Two unenclosed monitors standing back-to-back on the floor create a tunnel-like box. Viewed from either side, the video image shows synchronically the recesses of this black box. In slowly superimposed stages, the female protagonist emerges from one side of the box only to enter it again from the other. Next to this, strung between the floor and ceiling, stands a column of loudspeakers emitting humming tones.

Insertion – upside down

Assorted sawed-apart wall units, 7 television monitors, 7 VHS players // Concept/Camera/Editing/Performance: Andrea Loux

Numerous fragments of furniture are integrated into the caisson-like ceiling construction of the exhibition hall. These produce small-scale architectural structures which unexpectedly complete the location. The seven monitors inserted in these units of furniture function as additional spatial modules. Always dressed differently and shown in time lapses, the female protagonist repeatedly appears in the video image and climbs – seemingly weightless – from box to box.
